The water gathers at your ankles. The spring air gently whips around your body. As you stand at the shore of the ocean the divots holding your feet get deeper and deeper every time the waves come in anew. The salty water is cold but the warmer air cushions their blow, making it tolerable. Curiously rather than shells on the beach there are flowers. Every return of the ocean pulling more flowers to the shore. There’s no telling where they came from, but the beach is covered. Daisies, dandelions, buttercups, familiar flowers decorate the shores and create a mystery. Not one to be solved, at least not by you, but to encourage your sense of wonder at the situation.

This is a soy wax candle, double wicked, in a vessel handmade by me at the Saratoga Clay Arts Center. Three inches in height and four and a half inches in diameter.
