Two blogs ago I mentioned that folks should leave their thoughts in the comments. What I did not realize at the time was that comments were turned off! However! Comments have now been enabled so leave all your thoughts on any and all blogs moving forward!
So what’s been going on? Since my last blog I turned 26! It’s not a particularly landmark birthday, but I have made it another year on the space rock! I’m feeling pretty excited about it! There’s a lot ahead in this year. How that will take form is ultimately not clear yet, but all of the options are good!
I recently went to a poetry reading with friends (one of whom performed and did AMAZING) and it was really inspiring! It made me want to write some poetry myself! The only poem I’d ever written was in 5th grade, and I was really proud of it! Maybe too proud, because I just never returned to poetry ever again. Nonetheless, I think I could manage a little poetry writing in my schedule. I really enjoyed the descriptive storytelling like poems, so I’m going to try and embrace that in mine. Who knows! Maybe next open mic I’ll get up and do a couple poems for the crowd. Leave your best poetry writing tips in the comments!
I’ve been getting back into analog photography as well! I have a Polaroid attached to most blog posts so I feel like it’s clear that I enjoy an analog moment, but I’d had a bit of a break from 35mm. I recently got some older rolls developed though, and it put that itch right back. I want to get out and take photos with my Minolta Maxxum 7000! I’m never quite sure what to take photos of. I want photos of my beautiful friends, whom I love, mostly. Though, I’m trying to find beauty in photographing other things too. I also have a 120 format camera and some film that I need to figure out something to do with. I love the 120 format photos I’ve gotten so far, but I feel like my camera is a bit clunky for day to day. It may need to be brought out for a dedicated shoot. Spring and summer will really bring out the best of my photography. There’s nothing better than doing some photography on a nice day with natural lighting! Let me know how you keep up with your photography practice during the winter months!
As far as my ceramics practice, things are going well! The class I took this semester is finishing up in a couple of weeks, and I feel good about it! It’s been very motivating, and it’s been good to be in community with folks at the studio again! Right now I’m not planning on doing a class next semester, I’ll still have a studio, but it’s been good for tuning in to what I want to focus on! My big focuses right now are tarot stands, candles, and ceramic prints. I’m trying to decide if that’s too much to focus on, but it’s definitely better than focusing on every fleeting interest that crossed my brain for two seconds.
I think that covers most of what’s happening? If I’m forgetting something it can go in the next blog! This was a little more casual, less themed and more life update of a blog, but I hope you still enjoyed!
All my best,
Polar!
